About Me
As a student at General H.H. Arnold High School in Wiesbaden, Germany, Carl’s interests in chemistry and science flourished. His fascination with chemicals and crystals exploded, resulting in winning the school science fair in 1962 and later, his own experiments in artistic crystallography. After graduating from high school in 1962, Carl moved to Boston, Massachusetts to attend Boston University. Following graduation from UCLA Medical School, from Carl’s academic scientific background grew various story ideas blending his passions of medicine, chemistry, astronomy, science fiction, and sports together. A narrative based on the survival of human astronauts on another planet began taking shape. As new advances in astronomy and physics introduced the plausibility of wormholes and space travel, Carl’s imagination began forming a story based on a technologically advanced spaceship traversing through wormholes to transport humans to planets outside of our solar system. Along with the novel, Carl also wrote the musical score and geographical maps to support the world and its characters that he had created.
Carl met his wife, Jacqueline, in 1977 and is the father to two girls, each with their own interests in music, writing, and adventure. He currently lives on the Central Coast of California and spends his days, semi-retired, studying the latest in astronomy, writing music, and dreaming up new and exciting ideas for stories. This first novel of Carl Emerson Johnson Jr. is rooted in his great passions for science, astronomy, and grand voyages and quests. As a writer with an academic background in science, Carl desired to create a believable science-fiction story, one that is possible and consistent with current technological advances.
