The Author Carl books are the foundation of the brand. Many of the jams, marmalades, spices, chutneys and preserves sold at Author Carl market stalls are inspired by the methods, recipes and techniques explained in these books.
If you want to understand the thinking behind the products — from reliable jam setting and safe preserving to curry-house spice technique — this is where the knowledge lives. The products are what I sell at the stall; the books explain the methods behind them.
Author Carl is now a food brand as well as a publishing brand. The books still matter because they give the products credibility: they show the practical knowledge behind the jam, marmalade, spices, chutneys and future preserves.
